Dr. Limbaugh’s Family Life
Dr. Lindsay Limbaugh married Dr. Matt Limbaugh, a native of Huntsville, while in her orthodontic residency. Matt attended a two year General Practice Residency at UAB Hospital and then moved to Huntsville to begin his dental career, while Lindsay finished the last year of her orthodontic program. Dr. Limbaugh enjoys being back in Huntsville in their home in Hampton Cove and are proud parents of two sons, Brady & Grayson. During her free time, she enjoys participating in community services and spending time with friends and family—most especially her boys. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, and watching Auburn football.
Dr. Limbaugh’s parents reside in Fort Payne, Alabama, and her brother (who is also an orthodontist) and sister-in-law have recently moved to the area. This makes it easy for the whole family to get together quite often and spend special times together.
What is a Board Certified Orthodontist?
A board certified orthodontist is a dentist who has completed an American Dental Association accredited graduate program in the specialty of orthodontics. A dentist who graduates from a specialty program becomes an orthodontic specialist who is eligible to become Board Certified through the voluntary examination process of The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Involvement in the certification process is a demonstration of the orthodontist’s pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence. The certification process involves a thorough Written Examination covering all areas of information on which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful passage allows the orthodontist to present treated cases which will be evaluated by expert examiners of the Board during a Clinical Examination. Certification is now awarded for a time-limited period and the orthodontist must re-examine on a periodic basis to retain the board certified status.
Orthodontic specialists who have undergone the above American Board Certification process are Diplomates of The American Board of Orthodontics. As of September 2006, there are approximately 3010 American Board Certified orthodontists.
Orthodontic & Dental Involvement
While Dr. Limbaugh spends most of her office time dedicated to the treatment and well-being of her patients, she also feels it is necessary, and at the same time, rewarding to give back to the orthodontic and dental community. She presently serves as officer of the Huntsville-Madison County Dental Society, serves on various committees of the Southern Association of Orthodontists (SAO), and has recently completed the young Leadership Program of the SAO. She also actively participates in several dental study clubs and is a current, active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the SAO, the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, and the American Association of Women Dentists, the Alabama Orthodontic Alumni Association, and the 8th District Dental Society.
